Jerry Jones, 82, died April 5, 2011, in Sedona. He was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Littlefield, Texas, to Denton and Dola Ann Jones.
Mr. Jones was married to Beverly for 50 years. They had one son, Robby. They spent most of their married life in Williams, living for short periods in Washington and Montana for Mr. Jones' work.
Mr. Jones worked for the U.S. Forest Service from age 17 to 62. During his many years in the Forest Service, he was recognized many times for various achievements and projects. He was a Ski Ranger, helped develop trails, set up Indian Ruins for public viewing, worked on archaeology sites, etc. He was very proud of his work.
Mr. Jones was always a quiet man, very resourceful, strong willed, creative and a clever problem solver. He was also an artist and did wood carvings, sculptures, paintings, bronze statues and upholstery work. He loved the outdoors: camping, fishing, hunting, etc. He also liked movies and listening to the news.
A graveside service will take place Monday, April 11, at 2 p.m., at the Williams Cemetery.
