BAKER, Catherine Margaret (Kay)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Thursday, April 07, 2011 Catherine Margaret "Kay" Baker, 89, of Williamsport, Md., passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Homewood Health Care Center in Williamsport, Md. Kay Baker was born in Chicago, Ill., on April 12, 1921, and grew up in Detroit, Mich. She married Harrison Baker on March 1, 1943. She accompanied her husband throughout his career, and lived in many states, including Alaska and the countries of The Philippines and Bolivia, South America. Kay was a devoted wife and mother. She was active in politics while living in Alaska, enjoyed performing in community theater, and was an avid golfer. The Bakers retired in Prescott, Ariz., in 1977. Here Kay enjoyed many years being a docent at the Sharlot Hall Museum. In 2003, they moved to Homewood Retirement Community in Williamsport, Md. Surviving with her husband are four sons, Paul and his wife Kaleen from Winchester, Va., Alan and his wife Diane from Portland, Ore., Craig and his wife Susan from Salt Lake City, Utah, and Kurt and his wife Kim from Portland, Ore.; and nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at Homewood Retirement Community Chapel 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011. Pastor Jeff Shull will officiate. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity. Arrangements by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown, Md.
