KLINEFELTER, J. Allen


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ November 17, 1999, p. 18 J. Allen Klinefelter of Wickenburg died November 10, 1999 at Del E. Webb Memorial Hospital in Sun City West. He was 76. Mr. Klinefelter was born November 8, 1923 in Taylorville, Illinois and had lived in Arizona for 28 years. He had enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in combat in World War II, later commissioned as an officer during the Korean Conflict. He farmed for 25 years in the Nokomis, Illinois area. In 1970, Allen married Marjorie Erwin of Phoenix. The couple relocated to Phoenix in 1971, where Allen was employed as a sales associate for Del E. Webb Corporation in Sun City. In 1983, Allen became part owner and operator of Desert Hills Ranch in Wickenburg with partner R. H. Johnson. Since retiring from ranching in 1995, he had been employed as a ranch sales specialist by Sonja Green Real Estate Brokerage. After a memorial service on Friday, November 12 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg, he was returned to Illinois for funeral services with interment at Buckeye Prairie Cemetery near Taylorville, Illinois. Rev. James Longstreet officiated the local memorial service. Survivors include his wife Marjorie E. Klinefelter of Wickenburg; sons Danny Klinefelter of College Station, Texas, Steve Donnell of Waddell, Arizona, Lynn Klinefelter of Dallas, Texas and Kent (Skip) Klinefelter of Nokomis, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Helen Saxton of Grosse Pointe, Michigan and Sun Lakes, Arizona and brother Paul Meredith Klinefelter of Arlington, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents C.G. and Leona Klinefelter, two infant sons, and one grandchild. Frey Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Wickenburg handled the arrangements.
