The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ May 21, 1997 Alta “Rose” Ritter Towne, of Peeples Valley, died May 20, at her home in Peeples Valley. She was 77. Mrs. Towne was born Feb. 18, 1920 in Prescott. She was a lifelong resident of Arizona. Her paternal grandparents, Jacob and Mary Elizabeth Ritter, established the Ritter Ranch in 1886. Survivors include her husband, Fred; sons Donald Cherry of Prescott Valley, Spencer Cherry of Phoenix, John Towne of Benson, and Tom Towne of Kayenta; sister Edna Lange of Prescott; brother Curtis Ritter of Kirkland; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a foster brother, Bill Kohnke. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22 at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, Cortez and Carlton streets, in Prescott. The Rev. Jim Jones will officiate.
