The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ September 10, 1997 Joann M. Alford of Congress, died Sept. 6 in Sun City. She was 68. Mrs. Alford was born June 17, 1929 in Phoenix. She had lived in Arizona for the past 11 years, coming from Idaho. Survivors include her daughters, Roxann Grimme of Congress, Sherry Stoner of Connecticut and Michele Marks of Montana; a son, Norman Alford of Appleton, Minn.; and 13 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jere Alford, and two sons, Rory and Philip Alford. Services have been held. ~~~~~~~~~ The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ September 17, 1997 JoAnn M. Alford of Congress died Sept. 6 in Sun City. She was 68. Mrs. Alford was born June 17, 1929 in Phoenix. She had lived in Arizona for the past 11 years, coming from Idaho. Mrs. Alford retired from Potlach in Pierce, Idaho, after 20 years as a lumber grader. She soon moved to Congress to be with her family. JoAnn will be remember for her love of life, her great love of crocheting and crafts, and the love she gave her family. She was a great person not only in character but in soul. She was a great giver, not wanting anything in return. JoAnn will be deeply missed by loved ones and alike. Leaving this Earth so unexpectedly took us all by surprise. We will most of all miss her politics. Survivors include her daughter Roxann Grimme of Congress, Sherry Stoner of Connecticut, and Michele Marks of Montana; son Norman Alford of Appleton, Minn., and 13 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jere Alford and sons Rory and Philip Alford. Services have been held. Frey Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wickenburg handled all the arrangements.
