Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Sunday, April 10, 2011 Edward T. Gorney Jr., 57, died Friday, April 8, 2011. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on Aug. 7, 1954. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. After his service, he moved to Arizona in 1979. He was employed with Flagstaff Medical Center as 3-North's patient care tech for 18 years. He was a loving and caring family man and had many hobbies, including reading, crossword puzzles, fishing and, most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 28 years, Laverne Gorney; five children, Felia Gorney, Danielle Gorney, Verna Gorney, Berdella Gorney and Alex Cooke; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; mother Josephine Gorney; brothers Frank Gorney and John Gorney; and sister Susan Taylor. He was preceded in death by father Edward T. Gorney Sr., nephew Brandon Taylor and father in-law Billy Cooke. Rosary service will be Tuesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. at the St. Pius X Catholic Church in Flagstaff. A funeral service will be Wednesday, April 13, at 10 a.m. at the St. Pius X Catholic Church.
