Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Wednesday, April 6, 2011 - Henry Lawrence Matheis passed away April 3, 2011, in Lake Havasu City at age 73. He was born to Henry and Ann (Seitz) Matheis Nov. 13, 1938, in Chicago. “Larry” as he was known to his family and friends, served proudly under the direction of the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. He married his beloved bride, Marigene Gran, Dec. 26, 1959. In 1974, they moved to Steamboat Springs, Colo., from Chicago. While in Chicago, Bill belonged to St. Timothy’s Parish. After moving, he then became a member of the Steamboat Restaurant Association. Larry and Marigene made Lake Havasu their home in 2001, and shortly thereafter he went on to become a member of the Eagles and Elks. His personal motto was “no problem.” Larry leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years, Marigene Matheis; son, Peter L. (Irene) Matheis; daughter, Annette (Mike) Wheeler; sisters, Mary Ann Kathrine, Dorothy Hohmeier, Natalie Striegle and Loretta Matheis; and two grandchildren, Channing Matheis and Elliot Matheis. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Eugene and Todd Matheis. There will be an Elks Lodge of Sorrow Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Elks Lodge #2399, 3532 McCulloch Blvd., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403. A memorial service is planned in Steamboat Springs later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Larry’s memory to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.
