HERRELD, Steven Lee


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Thursday, April 7, 2011 - Steven Lee Herreld passed away April 5, 2011, in Lake Havasu City at the age of 63. He was born to Walter and Cora (Ballard) Herreld Aug. 18, 1947, in Peoria, Ill. Steven served proudly under the direction of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, receiving a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He married his beloved bride, Shirley Louise Eason, April 9, 1977. Steven worked for Henkels and McCoy as a lineman for 20 years in Long Beach, Calif. Since moving to Lake Havasu in 1995, he had memberships with the VFW 9401 and the Eagles Aerie 4299. Steven leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 34 years, Shirley Herreld, of Lake Havasu City; brothers, Roy Bailey, of Peoria, Ill., and Gary Herreld, of Minnesota; sister, Ramona Blount, of Lake Havasu City; Ramona’s two sons, Chris and David Paul and his wife, Lacy; sister, Althea Waldern; brother-in-law, Frank Boley and his wife, Delores; four dogs, Sadie, Lil Bear, Bandit and Rusty; and his closest friends Leonard and Cynthia Gechas and Ed and Eileen Devoe. Memorial services will be Sunday, 11 a.m. at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. VFW Post 9401 and the American Legion Post 81 will offer words of comfort and inspiration.
