Dr. John J. Sullivan, a retired professor at Arizona State University and resident of Prescott, died Nov. 4, 2005. He was 90 years old. Dr. Sullivan was born in Boston, Mass., on Feb. 12, 1915, to Michael and Mary (O'Malley) Sullivan.
He received his bachelor's degree from Villanova University, his master's degree and his Ph.D. from Arizona State University.
Dr. Sullivan retired from Arizona State University as a Professor Emeritus of Special Education in 1981. He was a past president of the Arizona State Federation, council of Exceptional Children and the Arizona Special Education Administrators Association.
Survivors include his wife, Alys M. Sullivan; and a brother, Gilbert of Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at St. Germaine's Catholic Church, in Prescott Valley. A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m.. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Sunrise Funeral Home, in Prescott Valley.
The family suggests memorials to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 120 N. Summit Ave., Prescott, Ariz., 86301.
