Marie Tucker of Wickenburg died Sept. 15 in Wickenburg. She was 91.
Mrs. Tucker was born Jan. 27, 1906 in Mondovi, Wisc. She had lived in Arizona for the past three years.
Marie Penson-Tucker was born to Edwin L. & Sarah A. Thames-Penson, Soon after birth, she moved with her parents to Alexander, N.D.
At the age of 12, she and her parents again moved, this time to Northern Idaho, settling in the Colburn area. She attended school at Center Valley and Colburn.
Mrs. Tucker married Clifford O. Tucker on Nov. 26, 1925 at the Presbyterian Church in Sandpoint, Idaho. They celebrated 71 years of marriage last November.
The Tuckers lived a busy life. Marie helped Clifford make poles and posts in their early years. In 1936, they stated farming, working side by side on their dairy farm.
Marie loved to travel. She and two special ladies traveled the Northwest and Canada. When she and Clifford retired, they traveled extensively from Alaska to Mexico. One of Marie’s favorite things was to head for the Idaho Mountains at berry time. She and her friends picked huckleberries for many days.
Marie also was an accomplished artist. Her beautiful painting line the walls of her children’s and grandchildren’s homes.
She was a charter member of the center Valley Birthday Club at Colburn, and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church for many years.
After retirement, the Tuckers spent their winters in Wickenburg. They were snowbirds for 20 years and moved to Wickenburg permanently in 1995.
Survivors include her husband Clifford of Wickenburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Phil Bradetich of Coeur D. Alene, Idaho, and Shirley and Clarence Hruza of Wickenburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Don and Peggy Tucker of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Gerald and Barbara Tucker of Cocolalla, Idaho; 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two children.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Wickenburg, with Pastor Dennis Smith officiating.
Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.
