The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ December 10, 1997 Daniel M. Lee of Phoenix and a former longtime resident of Wickenburg, died Dec. 1 in Phoenix. He was 54. Mr. Lee was born Sept. 6, 1943 in Corea, N. M. He was a lifelong resident of Arizona, moving here as an infant. He was a graduate of Wickenburg High School. Survivors include his daughter, Heidi L. L. Scarbrough; son Daniel R. N. Lee; sisters Ruby Garner, Minnie O'Connor, Carol Way, and Kathy Perry of Wickenburg; brothers Raymond, David, John and James; and six grandchildren. Mr. Lee was born Sept. 6, 1943 in Corea, N. M. He was a lifelong resident of Arizona, moving here as an infant. He was a graduate of Wickenburg High School. Mr. Lee was an electrician—operating his own business, Owl Electric, for a long time. He had fulfilled his dream of building a home on a beach in Mexico. The community new Daniel as “sand Dollar Dan.” He spent many mornings walking the beaches searching for sand dollars. He painted his home “bubble-gum” pin so his home could be found easily by visitors. He brought his family together for vacations at his home in Mexico. Everyone in his community knew his home. Mr. Lee lived an active life and was a collector of various items. He enjoyed helping people – particularly an orphanage in Mexico. He turned problems into learning experiences – listing and making positive, simple suggestion that were sometimes humorous. Survivors include his daughter, Heidi L. L. Scarbrough; son Daniel R. N. Lee; sisters Ruby Garner, Minnie O'Connor, Carol Way, and Kathy Perry of Wickenburg; brothers Raymond, David, John and James; and six grandchildren. Services were held at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 at the Chapel of the Chimes in Glendale, Ariz., with visitation conducted one hours before the services.
