Earl Dempsey Nelson, 83, formerly of Flagstaff, died April 4, 2011, in Cottonwood. He was born Oct. 7, 1927, in Garland, Texas.
He ran Nelson Tile Company in Flagstaff for 40 years. Mr. Nelson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marion of Cottonwood; sons Duane (Pat) of Flagstaff, Denny (Ryn) of Cottonwood and Dale (Diane) of Flagstaff; sisters Shirley Nelson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Geraldine Huych of Amherst, N.H.; brother Wendell of Fort Worth; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Myrtle Nelson of Fort Worth; and eight siblings.
A private service was held April 8 in Cottonwood.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to: St Cecilia's Church - Father Jose Salgado; P.O. Box 1228; Clarkdale, AZ 86324; donations will be used for church restoration.
