The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ February 11, 1965 Find Body Of Man A coroner’s jury impaneled by Justice of the Peace and Ex-Officio Coroner L. B. Bramkamp Sunday to view the body of a man found in a ditch along-side Highway 60-70 at noon Sunday will continue at the inquest at 2 p.m. Thursday of this week to determine the cause of death. The body has been tentatively identified as that of Harold Myron Genung, Ontario, Calif., and he is believed to be the son of the Myron Genung who served as Town Marshal (Chief of Police) of Wickenburg for one month in May, 1912, for two years and two months beginning in 1912 and for two months in 1920, according to records at Town Hall. Judge Bramkamp reports that California tourists discovered the fully clothed body and notified Deputy Sheriff Ora Galvin in Aguila who in turn notified the district sheriff’s office here. Deputy Sheriff Fred Strombellos conducted an investigation. The body was found 11 miles west of Wickenburg under a Mesquite tree some 40 to 50 feet off the pavement. The man’s abandoned car was found nearby and it is believed that he started walking and died of natural causes. It was the fifth dead body found in this area within a year. Older residents of Wickenburg state that former Town Marshal Myron Genung was not related to the man of the same surname who was a member of Pauline Weaver’s party which played such an important role in the early history of this section and whose name was given to one of the streets in Barnette Addition. ~~~~~~~~~~ The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ February 18, 1965 Heart disease claimed the life of Harold Myron Genung, whose body was found under a Mesquite tree just off Highway 60-70 about 11 miles west of town February 7, a coroner’s jury in the justice court of L. B. Bramkamp ruled last Thursday afternoon. The verdict was based on the results of an autopsy performed by the county medical examiner. Serving on the jury were Mr & Mrs William St. Clair, Roy Coxwell, Bob Dyar, Paul Pfinstag, Luke White and Dick Hornecker.
