BLAIR, Margaret

(Maiden Name: Roemer)

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, July 6, 2003 Margaret Roemer Blair, 91, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away on June 28, 2003. Margie, as she was known by her family and friends, was born June 10, 1912 in Youngstown, Ohio. She was a daughter to Henry Arthur and Ethel Mae (Sahli) Roemer. Her surviving siblings are a brother James A. of Warren, Ohio and a sister Gretchen P. of Girard, Ohio. Brothers Henry A., Jr., Paul, Jack J., and Robert preceded her in death. Her loving husband, Wilbur Tyler Blair, preceded her in death. They were married 70 years. She will be deeply missed by her surviving family, a daughter, Barbara Roemer Blair (Legg Davis) of Lake Monticello, Virginia, and son Robert Henry Blair (Kathleen) of Scottsdale, Arizona, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. To know Margie, was to love her. She had a love for life and had a wonderful way of making everyone she met feel important. She was active in the Junior League in Youngstown and Cleveland, Ohio; a wonderful, avid golfer; a tournament skeet shooter, and a bridge player. She was proud that she taught legendary race driver and 13 time team winner of the Indianapolis 500, Roger Penske, how to drive back in Cleveland, Ohio. Margie and her husband lived in Ohio, North Carolina, and Florida, before moving to Arizona 25 years ago. She donated her brain to Alzheimer's research in hope that a cure will soon be found. In living with this disease, she was caringly looked after by the devoted staff at the Skilled Care Center of Sierra Winds, in Peoria, Arizona. When Margie was 88 years old, she and her husband both accepted Jesus into their hearts. Now, together, they will spend eternal life with Jesus in Heaven.
