Janet A. Downer, 84, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away July, 2, 2003.
She was born January 21, 1919 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Clinton and Hester (Fear) Hatch.
Janet had an adventurous life and operated many different kinds of businesses.
She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1941 and belonged to the Alumni Association.
Janet was one of few women that was in the Women's Airforce Service Pilots from July 5, 1943 until December 20, 1943 stationed in Arizona and Nevada. She was a member of several different organizations; Eastern Star Lodge 244 of Milton, California, San Joaquin County California Retirees Association, California Public Employees Retirees Association of Sacramento, CA, and Women's Airforce Service Pilots Retirement Association in Murphy, CA.
In 1994 she moved to Scottsdale where she lived in the Paradise Peak Mobil Home Park. Janet was a member of the Living Waters Lutheran Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and an older sister, Lois Sanasac. Thankful for having shared in her life are her sisters, Lucia Schone of Eau Claire, WI and Mary Fall of St. Paul, MN.
Visitation will be Monday, July 7, 2003 starting at 9:30 AM at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd., Scottsdale, AZ with services starting at 10:30 AM at the mortuary.
Graveside services will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Janet's honor to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014 or Living Water Lutheran Church, 8300 E Tether Trail, Scottsdale, AZ 85255.
