The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, July 6, 2003 Joan Marcella Revere Jackson peacefully departed her physical life on July 3, 2003 at home in the presence of her loving family in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was born March 31, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio. She lived her early years in Wilberforce, Ohio and graduated from Central State University. She retired from the Cleveland Public School System after teaching 28 years. She was an active and faithful member of Tanner Chapel AME Church, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and many other social and civic organizations. Joan leaves to cherish her precious memories, husband, Arnold "Rip" Jackson; mother, Lucile Revere, Wilberforce, Ohio; son Derrick Smith, Cleveland, Ohio and step-daughters Christina (Albert) Thompson, Gaithersburg, Maryland and Lisa (Antoine) Richard, Houston, Texas sister Vyrlyn Revere, Houston, Texas; brother Jeffrey (Denise) Revere, Chicago, Illinois; and one granddaughter Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation will be Monday, July 7, 2003 at Universal Memorial Center, 1100 E. Jefferson, Street, Phoenix from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at Tanner Chapel AME Church, 20 S. 8th Street, Phoenix, Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at 11:00 a.m.
