HAZEL, Lawrence

The Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on April 12, 2011 - Lawrence 'Bill' Hazel Bill was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Mobile, Ala. He passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, in Kingman, where he and Ruth had lived since 1997. They met and married in 1951, when Bill was in the Navy, 59 years ago. They have three sons, Rob and Caren of Winnemucca, Nev., Randy and JoAnn of Kingman, and Rory and Tami of Bakersfield, Calif. Bill's dear sister, Madeline Hazel Scott, still lives in Mobile. There are 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter to carry on the Hazel name. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, flying his own plane, golf and writing beautiful poetry and stories of the Old West. Bill's book, "Yankee Savage," was published last year, much to his delight! He had a variety of jobs. Among which were that of the western "Badman" in Frontierland at Disneyland in 1960 to 1962. Much of his career was spent as manager of retail home improvement stores in and near Ventura, Calif., where he and Ruth lived for several years. Bill belonged to the Masonic Lodge and had served as chaplain both in Ventura and Kingman until ill health prevented him from continuing. Bill was dearly loved by his family and many friends. He will be missed forever.
