Jill Susan Doty, age 59, a 3-year resident of Golden Valley, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011, in Golden Valley, Ariz., as a result of an automobile accident.
She was born September 28, 1951, in Atlanta, Ga., to parents LuVerne and Joanne (Moe) Grinager. Jill grew up in Clarkfield, Minn., where she graduated in 1969.
Jill married Ronald L. Doty on November 1, 1969. They were the parents of two children, Douglas and Rebecca. Ron and Jill moved to their home in rural Clarkfield, Minn. in 1972, where they lived until August of 2007. They then moved to Golden Valley, Ariz., where they currently lived in their dream home.
Jill worked at Pittsburgh Paint and Glass for many years, and went back to college while working full-time, to earn her teaching degree. She graduated from Southwest State University of Marshall, Minn. in 1989. She worked as a teacher's aide from 1989-1990, and then started teaching full-time. She taught various grades, as well as English as a Second Language.
After moving to Arizona, Jill continued to teach until her death. Not only did she love to teach, but she truly was a part of her students lives -- many students in return touched her life.
She was a member of the Elks Club in Bullhead City and the Red Hat Society with her friends from the Clarkfield/Granite Falls area.
Jill loved life, loved her family, and loved her pets. She spent many summer days in the sun with friends and family in their pool. Jill also had the opportunity to do some traveling and see many wonderful places, one being her present home, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LuVerne and Joanne Grinager.
Jill is survived by her husband of 41 years, Ron; son, Doug (friend Suzie) along with his two daughters, Brianna and Alyssa of Montevideo, Minn.; daughter, Rebecca (Grant) Velde and their children, Brooke and Tyson of Granite Falls, Minn.; stepfather, Erling Dotseth of Clarkfield, Minn.; four siblings, Ann Koenig, Sue (Larry) Jans, Lee (Kris) Grinager, Gay (Jason) Avelsgard; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation was on Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Clarkfield Lutheran Church, in Clarkfield, Minn.
A Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, April 10, 1011, at Clarkfield Lutheran Church, in Clarkfield. The service was officiated by Paster Larry Olson. Organist Colleen Hewitt lead the Congregation with the hymns "Amazing Grace" and "On Eagles Wings". Honorary Urn Bearers were the Montevideo Fire Department, and members of the Elks Club in Bullhead City, Ariz.
Jill's final resting place will be at Clarkfield City Cemetery, in Clarkield, Minn.
Her ashes will be buried near her parents at a later date.
