Jason Daniel Amavisca-Fernandez, 29, died April 12, 2011 near Miami. He was a resident of Eagar. Jason was born Jan. 15, 1982, in Tucson.
Jay was a heavy equipment operator for the past three years for Freeport-McMoran at the mine in Miami. He loved to be on the mountain where he would bow hunt and fish and enjoy the great outdoors. He was getting ready to go to Pima Community College to become a certified EMT and planned to eventually become a paramedic.
Jay is survived by his wife, Suzette M. Amavisca-Fernandez; daughters: Janea Amavisca and Skye Peralta; son A.J. (Adam) Finch and step-sons: Chris and Tyler Goldsmith; parents: Alicia Fernandez, Sam Chavez, Anthony Amavisca Jr. and Richard Baez; maternal grandmother Angie Reyna and paternal grandmother Joella Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Eddie S. Casillas, paternal grandfather Anthony Amavisca Sr., maternal great-grandmother Eliza V. Fernandez, and half-brother Anthony Amavisca III.
Jason's services will be held Saturday, April 16, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Springerville. A viewing will be held at 9 a.m., Rosary at 9:30 a.m., and funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the services at the Nutrioso Cemetery.
