HEWETT, Roy Wayne


Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Tuesday, April 19, 2011 Roy Wayne Hewett, of Page, died April 9, 2011, at Page Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was born June 15, 1936, in Flagstaff to Hugh and Zona Hewett. Before moving to Page in 1994, Mr. Hewett spent his entire life in Flagstaff and the surrounding area. He attended Flagstaff High School and also served in the U.S. Army prior to his marriage to Christine Tabor Ely on April 1, 1961. He spent the majority of his career in road construction and as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, working in his yard and spending time with family. He had a rare sense of humor enjoyed by many. Mr. Hewett is survived by his sisters, Norma Johnson and Sandy Bishop; loving wife Christine; children Gerald (Tami) Ely of Mesa, Charlotte (Richard) Obergh of Panguitch, Utah, Pamela (Monty) Parsons of Grand Canyon, Debra Hewett (Denny Brown) of Scottsdale, Andrea (Eddie) McCurdy of Tempe, Lori (Ty) Sampson of Gilbert and Becky Hewett of Flagstaff; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Betty, brother Norman and stepson Walter. A memorial was April 16 at the First Baptist Church in Page. Per Mr. Hewett's wishes, a celebration of life is planned near Mormon Lake on June 11, 2011, for family and friends. Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab, Utah, is handling arrangements.
