Robert A. Burdette, Sr., age 86 of Peridot, Ariz., passed away on April 9, 2011 at his residence in Peridot.
He was born in Globe, Ariz. on March 11, 1925, the son of Wallace and Eloisa Burdette.
He worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and private construction companies. He was part of the early road building throughout the San Carlos reservation. He raised cattle tor the Tonto Livestock Association and was a vice president of the Tin Cup Cattle Association. RBY was his cattle brand. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Phoenix Suns fan. He also played basketball and football as a kid.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Roxie K. Burdette in January of 2003.
Robert is survived by his children, Mary Ann (Jay) Stevens, Rosalind (Duane) White, Robert (Patricia) Burdette, Jr., Verna (Albert) Stevens, Josephine (Eugene) Irving, Vernalda (Jeffrey) Porter, Melinda (Jonas) Roubidoux, Andrew E. Burdette, Sharon Burdette, Harding (Brenda) Burdette, Ricardo (Neva) Burdette; 46 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
A wake was held Friday, April 15, 2011 at Burdette’s residence in Peridot, Ariz. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at San Carlos High School auditorium. Final resting place is Lower Peridot Cemetery/Six Mile.
