Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona March 11, 1965 FIRST FATALITY Ruth May Connor, age 58, of Spokane, Wash., was killed in a one-car accident at 10:30 p.m. March 5 on the Wickenburg – Las Vegas Highway (93) approximately 40 miles north of Wickenburg, Highway Patrolman Ellis Salyer, the investigating officer, said it was the first highway fatality of the years in the Wickenburg patrol district. The accident happened, the patrolman said, when the car driven by the deceased women’s fiancé Gordon L. Lemaster, 47, of Boulder City, Nev., went out of control on a curve, struck a bank alongside the road and spun around. The woman was thrown from the car and killed instantly. Lemaster was bought to the Community Hospital here with injuries not considered serious.
