Death Claims “Bob” Josten At Home Here
Memorial services were held at 10 a. m. Wednesday of this week at St. Alban's Episcopal Church for Adelbert McChesney Josten who passed away at his home here May 20 following a lingering illness. The service here conducted by the Rev. Dan Gerrard, Rector, coincided with the interment held at the same hour at Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna, Minn. A requiem mass for close friends and the family was held at St. Alban's Saturday morning.
Mr Josten, more familiarly known to his many friends as Bob, was born October 21, 1889 in Northfield, Minn., but lived most of his life, before retiring and moving to Wickenburg 10 years ago, in Owatonna where he received his grade school education and was graduated from Pillsbury Academy.
He was connected with the manufacturing jewelry firm of Josten's from 1906 , until his retirement, holding numerous official positions with that nationally known firm. Interested in athletics, he was a timer for Amateur Athletic Union track events across the country and was a member of the Olympic Committee in the 1930's.
Mr Josten was a 50-year member of the Masons. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and of the Desert Caballeros.
Surviving are the widow Enid and two children, Thomas H. Josten, New York City, and Mrs Ellen Torgerson, Rockville, Md. A sister, Mrs Albert Tyrholm of Owatonna also survives.
The family suggests memorials to the St. Alban's Memorial Fund.
