PENLAND,

The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ
September 9, 1965
Grieving friends gathered Thursday morning at 10 o'clock in the Wickenburg Funeral Home to pay their last respects to Mrs Inez Penland, highly respected and well loved resident of the Wickenburg-Congress-Aguila community for more than 45 years.
She passed away in her sleep the evening of August 28 in the home of winter residents where she had been living as caretaker this summer.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Mearl Martin, pastor of the Assembly of God Church in which Mrs Penland had long been an active and devoted worker. At the time of her death she was an adult Sunday School teacher in that church.
Born in Minnesota January 23, 1902, Mrs Penland came to Congress as a girl of 18. She later lived in Aguila and then moved to Wickenburg about 20 years ago. Hers was an interesting, colorful life and
her recollections of earIier days in this section always made interesting conversation. Back in the early 1940's she served as Congress correspondent for The Wickenburg Sun and her contributions brightened the pages of this newspaper.
She is survived by a cousin, M T Anderson of Phoenix. Friends here thought she also had relatives in Minnesota.
