The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ September 16, 1965 Truck Driver Killed Carlton A. Meehl, 36 tear-old Casa Grande, Ariz., truck driver was killed instantly shortly after 6 o’clock Tuesday morning when his heavily loaded truck left the highway 14 miles west of Wickenburg. The eastbound truck-tractor, hauling 70,000 pounds of steel pipe, went off the right side of the highway, took out a heavily reinforced guard rail and headed into the ditch, throwing the driver out and running over him. The truck, which remained upright, came to a stop some 150 feet further on. Highway Patrolman B. C. Irwin was the investigating officer. The death was the seventh highway fatality of the year in the Wickenburg patrol district, the area of which was considerably reduced August 1.
