Robert Franklin Hall
July 16, 1937 — April 18, 2011
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend.
Robert Franklin Hall (Bob) was born July 16, 1937, in Bay, Ark. He moved to Southern California with his parents, Garland and Gladys Hall, when he was only 5 years old and lived there most of his life. He married the love of his life, Donna Young, in 1959, and together they raised two daughters in Lakewood, Calif. They spent many wonderful years going to Dodgers games, attending the girl’s softball games, hosting family and neighborhood parties and BBQs, and just hanging out with good friends. Bob and Donna had the honor of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in June 2009.
Bob spent several years in banking and sales before working at the Los Angeles Times and retiring from there. They moved to Minnesota in 1993 to be closer to his daughter, Becky, and her family. He spent his time there complaining about the weather and watching The Weather Channel. However, he did not complain about the wonderful Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., that so graciously gave him an extra 17 years of life when all other hope was lost.
He moved to Lake Havasu City in 2001, where he enjoyed his retirement, including golfing in the beginning years, watching the Diamondbacks on TV and in person, and making runs to Laughlin and Las Vegas.
We will always remember his love of music, baseball, football and politics. We will also remember:
• His great sense of humor
• His talented guitar-playing and soothing voice echoing through the house
• His quick wit and expert knowledge of trivia
• His enjoyment in talking about computers and technology
But mostly, his love for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wonderful wife of 52 years, Donna; his two daughters, Bobbi (Tom Petersen) Coulter, of Reno, Nev., and Becky, (Dwight) Aalgaard, of Lake Havasu City; as well as his four grandchildren, Ryan Coulter, Tyler, Hailey and Lauryn Aalgaard.
Please join us in remembering our beloved Bob Hall at a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. Friday. The service will be at Calvary Baptist Church, 1605 S. McCulloch Blvd. A reception will follow in the lower level of the church.
