Wickenburg (AZ) Sun Thursday, October 21, 1965, p 15 Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning of this week in the Wickenburg Funeral Home for Jess Crooks, a resident of the Wittmann area for a quarter of a century, where he owned and operated the 8V Ranch. The Rev Dan Gerrard, Rector of St Alban's Episcopal Church officiated and burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery with the Elks Lodge conducting graveside services. Mr Crooks passed away Oct 15 in Community Hospital here, following an extended illness. He was born July 4, 1905, in Liberty, Ariz., and as a youngster made the journey to Oregon and back with his family in a covered wagon. Surviving are the widow DeLoris; two brothers, Zalma of Congress Junction and Lloyd of Mason, Tex; four sisters, Mrs Pearl DeWitt of Phoenix, Mrs Audray Wayne of Wittmann, Miss Zoe Crooks, Los Angeles and Mrs Blossom Arnett of Susanville, Calif.
