Charlotte Yvonne Foster (1935-2011), 76, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in her sleep, at her home in Adelanto, California on March 28, 2011.
She was born on October 23, in the town of Tulare, California, to Jack and Hazel (Miller) Stever. She was the fourth child of seven. At 16, she married Donald R Foster, on March 8, 1952, in Tucson, Arizona, and followed him throughout his military career in Kansas, Florida, California, South Dakota, Japan, and Colorado, eventually ending up in Adelanto, California, where her husband retired from the Air Force in 1972.
Charlotte obtained her real estate license in both California and Colorado in the 60's, and obtained her California Broker's License in the 1980's. She operated Foster Realty, which is the oldest/continuous privately owned business within the City of Adelanto for a period of 48 years. In the late 70's, she was elected to the City Counsel of Adelanto for a period of 12 years, five of which she served as Mayor, as well as being a former President of the Adelanto Lions Womens Club. She loved country music, arts/crafts, and frequent visits to Nevada to play video poker.
She is survived by: her husband of 59 years, Donald; her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Nancy Foster; her two grandchildren: Geoffrey and Daniel; and her sisters, Vyranell, Doris, Jayne, Jackie, step-brother Alan Anderson, and their families. She was proceeded in death by brother James, and sister Beaulah.
Charlotte will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Viewing will be held at 1:00pm, with services commencing at 2:00pm at the Desert View Memorial Park, located at 11500 Amargosa Road, Victorville, California, on Thursday, April 7. 2011.
