HOLMES, Dorothy Downs

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Monday, July 7, 2003 Dorothy Downs Holmes, 91, of Scottsdale was born in Warren, OH on January 12, 1912. She graduated from the Francis Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH. She practiced Psychiatric and Geriatric Nursing for over 30 years, becoming one of the first female Hospital Administrators. During her tenure as Administrator of Eldercare Center, Chardon, OH, the facility became one of the first extended/long term care institutions in the United States to be certified for Medicare. Dorothy is survived by her Daughters; Heather and Dorothy, Son George, Grandniece Susan Glawe and Granddaughter Wendi Priest. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd., Scottsdale, AZ.
