DESHAZOR, Shirley Dean

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday, July 8, 2003 Shirley Dean DeShazor, 78, of Paradise Valley, AZ died July 5, 2003. Born in Highland Park, IL she moved to Arizona 22 years ago. In Chicago she was editor for the Highland Park News, held various editor positions with several area newspapers, attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and Patricia Stevens Modeling where she was also a model, and was a part-time actress with the Goodman Theater. Prior to her marriage she was a stewardess for United Airlines. She was a member of the Valley Presbyterian Church in Paradise Valley, AZ; a member of the Junior League; and volunteered for various charitable organizations. She is survived by her son, Dean Laffey; step-daughters, Joy DeShazor Brydon, Nancy DeShazor Bourke, and Linda DeShazor Dunlosky; grandchildren, Troy, Heather, Philip, and Mary Laffey; step-grandchildren, Sinclair and John Brydon, and Ross F. and Robert A. Bourke. Memorial Service will be held on Thurs., July 10, 2003, at 1 P.M. at Valley Presbyterian Church, 6947 E. McDonald Dr., Paradise Valley, AZ. Contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85016. Arrangements by Messinger Indian School Mortuary.
