Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, April 27, 2011 Jack B. Long Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 20, 2011, at Odyssey Hospice Center in Mesa, Ariz. He was born July 7, 1942, in Russellville, Ark. to Reverend Jack B. Long, and Grace Frances (Chandler) Long. He moved with his family to Globe, Ariz. when he was four and one half years old. He attended Globe schools, beginning with the old Hill Street School. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years from 1959 to 1963. He was, among other jobs, assigned the task of de-arming live mines in Pearl Harbor which remained from World War II. He was mustered out in Red Bank, N.J. He went to work for Marlboro Molding Company in Marlboro, N.J. and learned his life-long trade as a plastics engineer. There, he attended Newark College of Engineering while holding down a full-time job. While in New Jersey he married Nancy Martha Last, a 41-year marriage that lasted until his death. He moved to Ft. Collins, Colo. in 1971 where he went to work for Teledyne Water-Pik. During his tenure at Teledyne, he traveled to several foreign countries, including Hong Kong, Japan, Portugal and Spain to train workers the molding trade. He later started his own molding company, Dominion Plastics, in November, 1991, which he operated until the molding business was shifted to foreign countries. He named his company after the Old Dominion Mine in Globe. He and his wife were in the process of retiring in Globe when he became ill. Jack is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, John Liddell; daughter, Tiffanie Jean Upp; grand-daughters, Monique Anastasia Long of Wellington, Colo. and Madeline Hannah Upp of LaPorte, Colo.; and son from his first marriage, Jack Yadon of Tulsa, Okla. He is also survived by his mother, Grace Heyl, and sister, Patricia Anne of Globe, and brother, Ira Liddell “Dell” Long of Tucson, Ariz. A memorial service was held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at on Tuesday, April 26, 2011. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Gila County Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
