Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ May 19, 1966, p. 9 & 15 Couple Hit By Car In Crosswalk Mr & Mrs John J. Howard of Needles, Calif., who stopped in Wickenburg Monday noon enroute to Tucson, were struck and injured in the crosswalk in front of the Texas Café at 12:10 p.m. The westbound car which struck them was driven by Clifford D. Hubbell, age 69, of Wittmann, Ariz. His wife Pearl, 75, was in the car with him. Mrs Hubbell told Investigating Officer Tom Meyers that they were on their way to a local doctor’s office when Mr Hubbell apparently had a heart seizure. She said she cried out to him to stop before reaching the crosswalk but he apparently was momentarily unconscious. Mr. Howard, age, 66, was admitted to Community Hospital with a fractured leg, abrasions and abrasions. Mrs Howard was treated for cuts and bruises about the knees and released. Both Mr & Mrs Hubbell were admitted to the hospital suffering from shock. The Howards were crossing Center Street toward the Rancho Grande Motor Hotel when the accident occurred.
