Raymond Dale Davis, 72, died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at his residence in Springerville. He was born Nov. 18, 1938, in Springerville, the son of Carl G. and Jesse LaVeta Jepson Davis. Dale served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired as a heavy equipment operator and owned and operated Davis Trenching.
Dale was a member of the Laborer's Union and the Operating Engineers Local #428. He helped start four different groups of AA on the mountain, was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions.
He first married LaRue L. Cruce on October 15, 1960. His second marriage was to Sally Wiltbank on Friday, October 13, 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Davis of Springerville; sons: Steven Ray (Ronda) of Las Vegas, Nev. and Daniel Lee (Nancy) Davis of Eagar; daughters: Debi (Leon) Hinton of Pima, Candice (Timothy) Rainey, and Suzy (Brian) Baroldy, both of Springerville; brother Eddie Lee Davis of Tonopah; cousin Lamar Clark; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Kyle and Trenton.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 28, at the Springerville Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment followed at the Alpine Cemetery. Honor guard was provided by American Legion Post #30.
