Robert Murl Taylor, age 57, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011, at the home of his parents, in Needles, Calif. He lived in Needles most of his life, but also lived briefly in McPherson, Kan.
He was born February 23, 1954, in Needles. He attended school from Kindergarten through his Senior year, graduating in 1973 from Needles High School, and was confirmed in the Methodist Church in 1968.
Murl was a brakeman on the Santa Fe Railroad for five years.
He enjoyed living in the desert, hiking and climbing mountains. Murl loved spending time with his friends. One of his hobbies was Rock Art. He excelled in changing a black rock into a collectible work of art.
Murl was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Loren Taylor.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Taylor and her two children, Trista Rose and Gavin James Blackwell of Canton, Kan.; parents, J. Loren and Dora Taylor of Needles; brother, James J.W. (Tracy) Taylor of Agoura Hills, Calif.; sister, Mary Ann (Gregg) Hanna of McPherson, Kan.; two nieces, Grace (Sean) Sivley of Richardson, Texas and Tiffany Taylor of Agoura Hills, Calif.; two nephews, Robert G. (Joy) Burke of Groveland, Fla. and Derek J.L. Taylor of Agoura, Calif.; two grandnieces, Renae Grace Burke of Groveland, Fla. and Robin Elizabeth Sivley of Richardson, Texas; grandnephew, Connor James Burke of Groveland, Fla.; aunt, Susan, and uncle, Bill Johnson, of Fort Mohave; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.
A memorial was held April 23, 2011, at Dimond and Sons Mortuary in Needles.
His final resting place is Riverview Cemetery, Needles, Calif.
