AGUIRRE, Julia

Julia Aguirre 87, of Tucson, AZ passed away peacefully on April 27, 2011 in the presence of loved ones. Julia was born in Tucson, AZ to Pedro and Raquel Aguirre and was a descendant of the pioneer Aguirre family. She graduated from Tucson High School. While attending high school she played for the team, Daniel's Jewels. Julia married Ray Ruiz during World War II and they had four children. Julia retired from the Military Aircraft Storage and Disposition Center (MASDC) on Davis Monthan Air Force Base. Julia always said her life's best accomplishments were her children and grandchildren. She was the best mom anyone could have ever wanted. Her caring, kind, generous and fun loving nature was there even when communication was difficult due to Alzheimer's disease. She loved her home in the Rincon Valley, walking, gardening, cooking, painting and dancing. She enjoyed her volunteer work and the parishioners at St. Rita's Church in Vail, AZ. Julia is survived by her children, Carol Huerta (Richard), Celina Ruiz (Lonnie Stonefield), Christine Clayton (Bruce) and Carlos Ruiz (Cindy) and her "honorary" daughter, Pilar Jaime. Julia was also devoted to her grandaughters, Nina, Amanda, Olivia and Vanessa and enjoyed spending time with them while they were growing up. A special thanks goes out to Amy Gin, Myrna Flores and all of the other angels at Grandma's Angels Care Home and Odyssey Hospice. A Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011 will be held at St. Rita in the Desert Church, 13260 E. Colossal Cave Rd., Vail, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Casa de los Ninos Crisis Nursery. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
