JACK PAQUETTE DIES OF AUTO INJURIES
Coroner’s Inquest Recesses Until Saturday
To Further Deliberate Cause of Accident.
Jack Paquette, 22-years old, passed away at the Wickenburg hospital at noon Thursday from injuries received in an automobile accident which occurred two miles south of here early Wednesday morning.
Returning home from a trip to Phoenix, his car rolled over an embankment and into a canyon, turning over several times, landing upside down concealed from motorists passing along the highway. The exact time of the accident could not be definitely established, but crawling from the car he walked to the Macias ranch for help, and was rushed to the hospital, arriving at 6:15 a.m. Whether he remained in the car unconscious for a time was not verified at this writing. Considerable difficulty was encountered in locating the overturned car, but Patrolman Blackburn, who investigated, stated that the accident occurred 2.2 miles south of here on the Phoenix Highway at the first dip this side of the Macias ranch.
A coroner’s inquest called Thursday afternoon recessed until 10 a.m. Saturday to investigate further into the cause of the accident, although testimony was given by several witnesses, information was incomplete to reach a final verdict.
Paquette had been tending bar at Jean’s Corral during the past six months and leaves many friends in Wickenburg who mourn his tragic passing. Before coming here he resided at Prescott and was connected with the Green Frog Café and was well known there and all over northern and Central Arizona.
Born at Salida, Colo., he came to Arizona a number of years ago. His uncle, Dean Bratton, Prescott business man, arrived in Wickenburg Wednesday and his aunt, Mrs. Ray Bratton, also of Prescott, came early Thursday morning to be near her nephew.
Funeral arrangements are pending until his father, J. D. Paquette, arrives from Salida, Colo.
