Tom Connell, Former Town Marshal, Dies
Friends were saddened to learn of the death of Tom Connell, former marshal here, which occurred March 14 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Sawtelle, Calif. Mr. Connell entered the Veteran’s Hospital at Fort Whipple, Prescott, February 5, of this year, from where he was taken to Sawtelle.
Born in Brownwood, Texas, on July 19, 1875. Mr. Connell joined the United States Army at the age of 22 and served with Troop H of the First Volunteer Cavalry in the Spanish-American War.
He first came to Wickenburg more than 40 years ago and after residing here a number of years moved to Raton. N. M. He returned to Wickenburg 13 years ago and lived here up to the time of entering the hospital at Prescott. During his 13 years here he served both as day and night marshal of the town.
Surviving is the widow, Mrs. Julia Connell of Wickenburg. He was buried with full military honors at the Soldier’s Home in Sawtelle on March 15.
