HERSHKOWITZ LIFELONG RESIDENT OF CONGRESS, DIES CONGRESS – This community was saddened by the death of one of its most prominent citizens, William Hershkowitz, Sr., which occurred Wednesday morning, May 1. He was 43 years of age and had spent his life here in Congress to Congress Junction for 10 years and was also interested in mining. Surviving are the widow, Sarah, and five children: Mrs. Larry Field, of Wickenburg; Shirley, William, Jr., George and Richard. George, serving in the navy overseas, was the only member of the immediate family not present for the funeral services. Other survivors are the mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hershkowitz, Sr., four sisters, Mrs. Daisy Rameriz, Stockton, Calif.; Mrs. Oscar Deck and Mrs. Bob Baker, Congress; and Mrs. Lloyd Jackson, San Diego, Calif. Also five brothers, Allen and Harry of Wickenburg; Ernest, Phoenix; and Edward and Walter of Stockton, Calif. Funeral services were held Monday, May 6, with burial at Congress, only a few hundred feet from where he was born.
