Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, May 04, 2011 Velda Fern Rice, age 97 of Globe, Ariz. passed away on Monday, April 25, 2011 at Copper Mountain Inn in Globe, Ariz. She was born in Dyer, Ark. on Oct. 23, 1913, the daughter of Daniel and Claudia McCabe. Velda had lived in Arizona for nine years. She worked as a nurse's assistant for Redlands Community Hospital. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Rice in 1985, her son, Travis Rice, and her daughter Ann Walmer. Velda is survived by her daughter, Martha (Robert) Slaughter of Globe, Ariz. Funeral services were private. Interment was at Montecito Memorial Park in Colton, Calif. Assisting the family; Lamont Mortuary of Globe.
