BRASHLER, Kenneth Henry


Mohave Daily News, Mohave Valley, AZ - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from May 4 to May 11, 2011 - Kenneth Henry Brashler, age 74, a 15-year resident of Mohave Valley, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at his home in Mohave Valley, Ariz. He was born on December 2, 1936, in Everett, Washington, to John and Buelah Brashler. Ken, who served in the Marine Corps, retired from Murray Pacific in Ellensburg, Washington, where he worked as a cattleman, logger and ranch manager for over 23 years. After retirement, he became the owner of "Such a Deal", a second hand store in Ellensburg. After moving to Mohave Valley, Arizona, he worked at Home Depot in Bullhead City, Arizona, "just for something to do". Ken met Mae Schademan and they married in 1986. Ken was a member of the American Legion, Masons and the Elks. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood carving, gardening, exotic animals and collecting. Ken was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Barbara "Babs", age 50; and his niece, Heidi Sullivan, age 17. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Mae; three sons, Michael Sullivan [Brashler] of Fairbanks Alaska, Kenneth (Krysta) Brashler Jr. of Ellensburg, Wash. and Bill (Debi) Brashler of Granite Falls, Wash.; daughter, Dana (Russell) Brown of Hilo, Hawaii; one step-son, Loren Schademan, Jr., of Knox City, Texas; one step-daughter, Cindy Golden of Kennewick, Wash.; mother, Dorothy Merchant of Spanaway, Wash.; brother, Gordon (Donna) of Smith, Phoenix, Ariz; 18 grandchildren, Micah (Joy) Sullivan of Mission Viejo, Calif., Aaron (Jamie) Sullivan of Yakima, Wash., Isaac (Megan) Sullivan of Eugene, Ore., Jill Brashler of New York, Zachary Brashler of Ellensburg, Wash., Caleb Brashler of Ellensburg, Wash., Whitney (Nick) Vison of Louisville, Ky., Russell Brown III of Louisville, Ky., Cheyenne Brown of Louisville, Ky., Madeline Brown of Ellensburg, Wash., Ian Brown of Ellensburg, Wash., Dustin Sutton of Kennewick, Wash.; Charlie Altom of Camino Island, Wash., Marcus (Amy) Brashler of Granite Falls, Wash., Alisha (Andy) Hoskins of Granite Falls, Wash., Elizabeth (Will) Borja of Granite Falls, Wash., Loren (Tanya) Schademan II of Lewiston, Idaho, Vanessa Schademan of Ellensburg, Wash.;. seven great-grandchildren, Hannah and Ryan (Jill's) Taylor, MaKenna and Hudson (Aaron's), Chloe and Patrick (Alisha's), and Liam (Marcus's); and also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that he cared for deeply. Everyone who was touched by Ken will miss this great man. Viewing will start at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Desert Lawn Funeral Home, 9250 S. Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley, Ariz.
