Dillard, Pioneer Miner Dies
Services for George Loss Dillard, 86, who died Saturday in the Wickenburg Community Hospital, were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home with interment in the Wickenburg Cemetery.
A pioneer Arizona miner, Mr Dillard first came to Wickenburg from Gainesville, Tex., in 1899 and was in and out of the area for the next 67 years. For the past 20 years he had lived here. He was employed at the Vulture Mine in 1906 and later owned or worked in the Montezuma (lead) and Old Pit Mines (silver) in Morristown, the Old Sheep Tank Mine (silver) in Salome, and the Allison Mine (gold) in Tucson, among many.
He also was an assayer in Nevada for a time.
Surviving are his wife, Elnora; four sons, George of Nevada; Edwin of Wickenburg, Jack of Williams and Clifford of Torrence, Calif., three daughters, Mrs Ella Barrick of Wickenburg, Mrs Vivian Bray of Winslow and Mrs Frances Pfeil of Hacienda Heights, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
