SHEETS, Walter (Wally) Gerald

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/10/2011 Walter "Wally" Gerald Sheets met his Lord May 4, 2011. He was born Oct. 7, 1921. Walter moved to Chicago as a young man, served in the US Navy in Alaska during WW II and married Sarah Jane Young in June 1943. They were married 66 years when Sally passed May 12, 2010, living in Tucson and later Alpine in the summer months. Wally was a member of Masonic Temple, Carpenters' Union and a Brethren Church deacon. Sally and Wally moved to Tucson in 1951, where he worked as a construction project manager for major construction companies. He volunteered in the migrant fields with Sally in the ‘50s repairing migrant housing while Sarah worked in medical clinics. He is survived by daughters: Jeri Bennett of Scottsdale, Linda Kern of Tucson; sister Berdein McMillan, Bella Vista, Ark.; grandchildren: Tom and Chris Hays, Brock and Brett Kern and five great-grandchildren. Memorials can be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church Visitation Ministry. Graveside services in Girard, Ill.
