CHAIDEZ, Antonio V. (Tony)


Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, May 11, 2011 Antonio V. “Tony” Chaidez, age 85, of Miami passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011, in Mesa, Ariz. He was born on May 19, 1925, in Miami, Ariz., the son of Guadalupe Acker. Tony proudly served in the U.S. Marines during World War II. He was in the battles of Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima with the 2nd Marine Division. Tony was a member of the Divine Grace Presbyterian Church in Miami, the VFW in Miami and Moose Lodge in Claypool. He retired after 38 years with the Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company. Tony enjoyed lapidary jewelry making, gold panning, traveling and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed and warmly remembered by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe Acker, granddaughter, Darlene Halstead and her husband John, and great-granddaughter, Cara Cordes. Tony leaves behind in loving memory his wife of 63 years, Consuelo S. Chaidez of Miami, Ariz.; five sons, John (Rosalie) Chaidez of Las Vegas, Nev., Tony Chaidez of Seattle, Wash., Thomas (Rose) Chaidez of Globe, Ariz., Mark Chaidez of Miami, Ariz. and Andrew Chaidez of Mesa, Ariz.; five daughters, Eleanor (David) MacMillan of Salt Lake, Utah, Christine (Edward) Garcia of Glendale, Ariz., Wanda (Michael) Black of Miami, Ariz., Patricia (Mark) Reicks of Phoenix, Ariz. and Ida Chaidez of Phoenix, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the Divine Grace Presbyterian Church, 305 W. Live Oak St., in Miami, Ariz. Interment with Military Honors followed at Mt. Breeze Memorial Gardens, Miami, Ariz. Funeral arrangements for Antonio V. “Tony” Chaidez were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services Miami.
