Manuel P. Zaragoza, Sr., age 91, of Globe went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. He was born on June 3, 1919, in Tyrone, N.M., the son of Maria (Pinon) and Ambrosio Zaragoza.
Manuel was a faithful member of Our Lay of the Blessed Sacrament Church and the Knights of Columbus. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the VFW. Manuel was a dedicated employee of Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company for 42 years.
Manuel was an active man and enjoyed camping and fishing, traveling, drawing, painting, dancing, music, long walks and above all he cherished spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Quirino Zaragoza and Faustino Zaragoza, and one sister, Dolores.
Manuel leaves behind in loving memory his wife of 69 years, Sarah (Yubeta) Zaragoza of Globe; three daughters, Bea (John) Sanchez of Globe, Linda (Manny) Reyes of Tempe and Sally (Neto) Vasquez of Globe; one son, Manuel Zaragoza, Jr. of Globe; seven grandchildren, Christine (Joe) Diaz, Cathy Canez, Richard Reyes, David Reyes, Ruben (Jamie) Reyes, Ernie Vasquez and Tiffany Vasquez; and two great grandchildren Kevin Canez and Courtney Canez. Manuel will be warmly remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will held on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, 844 W. Sullivan St., in Miami, Ariz. Rosary will be Saturday, May 14, at 9:30 a.m. and mass will follow at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament.
Interment with Military Honors will be at Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens, Miami, Ariz.
Funeral arrangements for Manuel P. Zaragoza, Sr. were handled by Miles Funeral Services Globe.
