SUDDEN DEATH
Came To Eloy Women Memorial Day In
One-Car Accident West Of Town. Four Others Hurt
A one-car accident early in the morning of Memorial Day on a straight, smooth stretch of the California Highway five miles west of town, snuffed out the life of an Eloy woman who became the fifth highway fatality of the year in the Wickenburg patrol area.
She was Mrs Jim Rose, age 47 and was killed when the 1952 Chrysler in which she was riding with her husband, also 47, went out of control, left the highway and rolled over, throwing out the Roses and three other occupants and coming to a stop with its wheels in the air and the body demolished. Mrs. Rose was killed instantly. Her husband is in Community Hospital with a broken back and one of the passengers, Gilbert V. Cornado of Los Angeles, is also in the hospital with minor injuries. Two Marines from Camp Pendleton, riding in the car, were also brought to the hospital and then transferred to Luke Field. They were Leland Feasel, 18 and Ezell Shirley, 17.
Highway Patrolman George Pemberton, who reached the scene of the accident soon after it occurred at 5:27 a.m., said he will cite the driver for reckless driving.
