The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ July 31, 1953 Unable to Locate Relatives Of Dick McNutt, Killed Tuesday in Mine Accident at Blue Queen Near Aguila Efforts to locate living relatives of Richard (Dick) McNutt, a miner who lost his life Tuesday afternoon at the Black Queen manganese mine 16 miles south of Aguila, were still unsuccessful up to Thursday morning. The body is being held at the Wickenburg Mortuary. Mr. McNutt, whose age has been estimated at around 50, was instantly killed the afternoon of his second day at work in the mine when he and John Allen were going off shift and riding in a skip to the surface. McNutt raised up and his head was caught between the top of the skip and the shaft ceiling. His head was crushed and his neck broken, Judge R. L. Westall, ex-officio coroner, ruled no inquest was necessary. The Black Queen mine is operated by Fred Seibert and Louin W. Smith of Aguila.
