Mohave Daily News, Mohave Valley, AZ - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from May 12 to May 19, 2011 - Darryl Edward Thompson, age 56, a 4-year resident of Bullhead City, Ariz., passed away May 2, 2011, in Scottsdale, Ariz., under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the Valley. He was born January 6, 1955, in Indianapolis, Ind. He married Sonja Barker on February 16, 1974, in Indianapolis. Darryl worked in the aviation industry for 34 years, and was recently named Arizona Airport Executive of the Year by the Arizona Airports Association. He served as Assistant Airport Director at Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport from March of 2007 until his passing. He will be sadly missed by his family as well as his friends. His family will carry his memory in their hearts as a loving and faithful husband, and kind and compassionate father, who lived life to the fullest. Darryl is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sonja; his son, Chad (Jennifer) Thompson; and daughter, Sarah Thompson. In honor of Darryl's wishes, a private burial service was held at Floral Park Cemetery, in Indianapolis. Memorial donations may be given in Darryl's name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
