LIEDMAN, Josephine (Jo) (Bama)

(Maiden Name: Reel)

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/13/2011 Josephine ‘Jo’ Reel Liedman Jo "Bama" died peacefully in her sleep April 23, 2011, after a wonderful evening watching the Lawrence Welk show at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Margi and Terry Lingle in Falcon, Colo. She was born Jan. 6, 1913, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and graduated from Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa. She was introduced by her brother Wiley Reel to her husband-to-be, Louis Liedman and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage before he predeceased her in 2003. Jo pursued her passion of teaching high school mathematics and English after earning two masters' degrees in these majors. She taught in many locations, following her husband Lou around the country in his career with the U.S. Forest Service. Most memorable to Jo were her teaching stints in Springerville, Ariz. and as an initial staff member at the start of Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque, N.M. Jo had three wonderful children: daughter Jean Dekker of Coronado, Calif.; son Louis Liedman who predeceased her in 1997 leaving a wonderful daughter-in-law Ellen; and daughter Margi Lingle of Falcon, Colo. She took pride in, and enjoyed her six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren immensely. There will be no services at Jo's request, and her ashes will be put in the Reel family plot in Bellevue, Penn. with those of her husband and brother at a later date. "Words are insufficient to express the love, admiration, and respect we all felt for this wonderful lady. God bless you Jo."
