BARTHOLOMEW, Mary Ellen

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, May 10, 2011 Mary Ellen Bartholomew, née Rygg, died May 5, 2011, in Fayetteville, Ark. She was born in Prescott, Ariz., Sept. 14, 1953, to Dr. Jerome and Elizabeth Rygg. Although they moved to the Midwest for many years, in 1967 they returned to Prescott, where Mary and her sister, Lynne, attended and graduated from Prescott High School - Lynne in 1968 and Mary in 1971. After graduation, Mary married Butch Hampton. Although since divorced, they have remained close friends. She has also maintained close friendships with many of her high school classmates throughout the ensuing years. She later attended NAU for her bachelor's degree in nursing. While there, Mary met and later married Bob Bartholomew. They had a daughter, Ashley, and a son, Seth. She subsequently returned to school and acquired a teaching certificate, all the while working in her chosen profession of nursing. Mary worked hard to accomplish all the things in life she thought were important. She took on any challenge and packed all her dreams into her life before she was 40. Her determination and drive will always be remembered and admired by her many friends and family. Mary was an active and popular participant in the Prescott school community and is still lovingly remembered by her former classmates. A memorial gathering of friends is planned and will be posted on Facebook. Services were Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Moore's Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Ark.
