Martha Ann Rose passed peacefully into heaven on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. She entered this world, with her twin sister, on Aug. 30, 1945, in Richmond, Calif. Her parents were Noble C. and Thelma (Aday) Elliff.
Martha grew up in the Southwest, her parents settling in Prescott, Ariz., in August of 1956. The twins graduated from Prescott High School in 1963, one of four sets of twins to graduate that year.
She met and married the love of her life, Jack Rose, while working for the telephone company in Seattle, Wash. They moved to Moscow, Idaho, to live while Jack finished his degree at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash. They then moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where they resided until Jack's retirement in 2002. During this time Martha worked as a church secretary, volunteer church choir leader, volunteer teacher's aide, and as a high school assistant librarian and was a stay-at-home mom for awhile.
Upon their return to Prescott, they bought a partnership in Arizona Seamless Gutters, and Martha became the receptionist/scheduler. They bought out the partnership in 2005, and Martha moved into the position of office manager and financial officer.
Martha loved people and her greatest asset was making everyone feel comfortable upon their very first meeting. She loved singing in the choir, singing solos, and could sing just about any church song from memory. Over the past five years, Martha was the greeter chairperson at Willow Hills Baptist Church.
Her hugs and smiles will be greatly missed. Her greatest desire was for all she met to know Christ Jesus as their Savior and Lord.
Martha is survived by her husband, Jack; her daughter, Melanie Rose, of Pacific, Wash.; her twin sister, Margaret (Dave) Kaufmann of Prescott; brother, Noble (Lois) Elliff Jr. of Van Buren, Ark.; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Moon of Pacific, Wash., and Myrna (Elwin)Paulson of Sydney, Mont.; dear cousin, Mary (Norm) Rubey of Phoenix, Ariz.; numerous nieces and nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and older sister, LaVerne Fisher Anderson.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Willow Hills Southern Baptist Church, 1071 Mogollon Road, Prescott. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Martha's name to the Willow Hills Southern Baptist Church Piano Fund.
